From 2004 to 2014, Kim served as the K-12 Mathematics Consultant for Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools (just north of Akron, Ohio). In May 2014, she received a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction/Mathematics Education from Kent State University. Kim is now working as an independent consultant in mathematics education, with teachers, administrators, and students. She also is very involved with professional organizations that support mathematics teaching and learning, including the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics (Executive Director), the Ohio Mathematics Education Leadership Council, and the Ohio Mathematics and Science Coalition.
Kim's background
Kim is a past president of the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics and has participated in projects with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Ohio Department of Education, and the National Science Foundation. In her position in Stow, she spent at least half of most school days in K-8 classrooms, working with teachers and students directly. She also led inservices with K-12 teachers on a regular basis. She has been doing similar work in a variety of Northeast Ohio schools since August 2014. Kim is licensed in secondary mathematics, and she taught middle school mathematics for 6 years.
